St. George
Nearby St. George, sometimes called “Utah’s Dixie,” is know for its temperate climate. It’s also in close vicinity to such cultural venues as museums, restaurants, theaters and galleries. Here, you can visit significant LDS sites or explore area ghost towns. Recreation lovers will find a full plate of outdoor fun, including hiking, biking, climbing, fishing, boating, horseback riding and skiing.

Dixie National Forest
Dixie National Forest, located northeast of Hurricane, is the largest in Utah, occupying almost 2 million acres. Elevations vary from 2,800 feet near St. George to 11,322 feet at Blue Bell Knoll on Boulder Mountain. It is home to the Pine Valley Mountains and the Red Canyon Visitor Center, providing trails and public land for hiking, biking, horseback riding, OHV use and fishing. National forest fees apply.

Tuacahn Amphitheatre
Broadway comes to the desert in this amphitheatre built in the shadow of 1,500-foot red cliffs. Throughout the warmer months, the theatre company features the state’s finest actors in some of Broadway's greatest productions. It also presents concerts and comedy performed by such well-known artists as Peter Frampton and Brian Regan. Located at St. George.

Zion National Park
Drive about 45 minutes to arrive at Zion National Park, where dramatic and massive canyon walls shimmer in cream, pink and red hues. Located on the Colorado Plateau, but bordering the Great Basin and Mojave Desert Provinces, Zion's unique geographic location lends to a variety of habitats for a surprising number of plant and animal species. Use the area to backpack, climb and enjoy other outdoor activities. National park fees apply.

Quail Creek State Park
Open all year, this state park boasts an excellent spot for boating, swimming, picnicking and trout and bass fishing. Off-road vehicle trails are within the vicinity. Located just 10 minutes from Hurricane, it offers modern restrooms, fish-cleaning station and two covered pavilions for groups.

St. George Dinosaur Discovery Site
Considered one of the most significant dinosaur track sites in western North America, this area shows evidence that prehistoric animals occupied the edge of a nearby lake in the Early Jurassic (age between 195-198 million years ago). Tours are welcome, and a museum houses fossils and geological specimens; events and programs take place during Dino Days in February.
